Runde island

31 July- 8 August 2020

We spent the last week on Runde Island, famous for its seabirds colonies and population of Great Skua (the southernmost in Scandinavia), but again, most of the pelagic species had finished nesting The disappointment of the trip : not being able to photograph the Atlantic Puffins face to face...but the numerous sithtings of otters somewhat compensated for this failure.

The Christineborg hostel (https://www.christineborg.no/) where we stayed, in addition to being pleasant, is located on the edge of a small rocky cove. This is where an otter took up residence with her two cubs, which made the long and always rainy days much more pleasant...

You will have understood, Norway is beautiful but it's cold and wet all year long even if sometimes, it seems, it can be 2 weeks without rain and even with sun...
